Discografia Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath é uma banda de heavy metal formada no ano de 1968 em Birmingham, Reino Unido. Sua formação original é composta por Ozzy Osbourne (vocais), Tony Iommi (guitarra), Geezer Butler (baixo) e Bill Ward (bateria). Posteriormente, houve numerosas mudanças na banda, e Iommi era o único componente fixo. Embora às vezes, sejam classificados como uma banda de hard rock (Butler define o estilo uma vez blues pesado e distorcido), Black Sabbath é considerado um dos primeiros grupos de heavy metal da história ao lado de Led Zeppelin, UFO e Deep Purple e também contribuíram muito para o desenvolvimento deste tipo de gênero. De 1970 a 2000, foram vendidos mais de cem milhões de cópias dos álbuns, tornando o Black Sabbath uma das mais bem sucedidas bandas de heavy metal, ao lado do Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple e Judas Priest, AC/DC, Motorhead, Megadeth, Metallica e KISS.

História

Origens à estreia (1966-1970)

O embrião do Black Sabbath surgiu no ano de 1966 em Aston, uma localidade de Birmingham, Inglaterra. A história começou quando o guitarrista Anthony "Tony" Iommi e o baterista William "Bill" Ward (ambos do grupo Mithology) leram em uma loja, o anúncio de um cantor que foi à procura de músicos para formar uma banda. O cantor era John "Ozzy" Osbourne que estudou na mesma escola que Iommi. Iommi e Ward foram para casa de Ozzy e decidiram formar um complexo musical. Osbourne levou ao grupo, outros dois músicos que tinham tocado com ele na banda Rare Breed: os guitarristas Terence "Geezer" Butler e Jimmy Phillips.

Mais tarde, Butler assumiu o papel de baixista, e foi também assoldato pelo saxofonista Alan "Aker" Clarke. A banda escolheu o nome inicialmente de Polka Tulk Blues Band e encurtado depois para Polka Tulk, e começou a construir um repertório, principalmente blues. Mais tarde, Clarke e Phillips saem do grupo e o restante dos membros decidiram alterar a denominação para Earth. A formação exibe em vários locais, tocando covers de Jimi Hendrix, Blue Cheer, Cream e The Beatles, e esculpiu o primeiro demo em 1968. É recolhido algum êxito no espaço de "pubs" britânicos e permitiu que o grupo a fazer o nome no exterior, graças a gerente Jim Simpson.

Após um curto período, o nome da banda foi mudado porque havia outro grupo denominado Earth. A escolha do nome, mais tarde, veio à ideia de Butler, um grande fã dos romances de "magia negra" e "terror" de autores como Dennis Wheatley. Butler tinha visto o filme de terror italiano do diretor Mario Bava, I Tre Volti Della Paura (As Três Faces do Medo) de 1963, mas exibido com o nome de Black Sabbath na Inglaterra e EUA, e escreveu uma canção que incorpora o título do filme. Isto se tornou o novo nome do grupo.

O novo nome é acompanhado por uma transição para um novo som blues, em primeiro lugar com elementos do folk e, em seguida, com cada vez mais fortes e tons escuros até que uma nova solução para a qual o grupo tornou famosa e teria sido numerada para muitos críticos, como os principais pioneiros do heavy metal. O primeiro registro que a banda assinou foi com a Fontana Records e, mais tarde, com o Vertigo. No dia 13 de fevereiro de 1970, foi publicado o álbum de estreia da banda, intitulado simplesmente de Black Sabbath.
